Matthew Maisano

FOUNDER

Matthew Maisano is an Emmy-nominated video & XR producer who has spent time directing in a live news control room, an edit bay creating shows for national networks like Food Network and HGTV, and producing content for PBS and award-winning web series with millions of engagements on social media platforms.

His documentary on the Forrest Fenn treasure story, Fenn’s Searchers, screened in film festivals across North America, was accepted into Amazon’s Prime Video streaming platform, and has been featured in the Netflix docuseries Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Fenn’s Treasure and CBS’s true-crime series, 48 Hours.

In 2019, Matthew decided it was time to leave his job at PBS North Carolina to build his own production company. Since then, Matthew has grown Big Toe Media into a nationally-recognized leader in media production and livestream events.

In his free time, Matthew enjoys snacking on Cheez-its, making his wife laugh with made-up radio voices, and watching documentaries about geography and fonts. He can often be heard saying, “In the future…”

How We Got Our Name

The true origin of the Big Toe comes from founder Matthew Maisano’s sophomore year of high school. It all started when his English teacher was passing out test papers. He looked down at Matthew's foot and bluntly proclaimed, "Damn, that's a big toe!". The entire class laughed, but he likes to think they were laughing with him (that’s what he says anyway). From then on, he knew that his big toe was the source of his knowledge and creativity and only by listening to it would he fulfill his ambitions.
